We Opened the Door
We didn’t wait for July 4. We opened quietly, and let the first weekend tell us what it would.
We could have waited until July 4 to open the doors. We chose not to.
On Friday, June 5, we opened for soft opening — quietly, with walk-ins and no waitlist, Thursday through Sunday. No grand announcement. Just the lights on, the taps poured, the stage warm, and the door open to whoever wandered up.
A soft opening isn’t about holding back. It’s about being honest. The kitchen and the floor work best when the team has had a chance to find their rhythm together — the pace, the plates, the flow of a real service — before we hand them a backyard full of a thousand neighbors on the Fourth of July. Four weekends to get it right before the big one.
The first weekend told us what we needed to know. The dining room filled and emptied and filled again. Families came with kids and dogs. People sat at the outside bar long after their plates were cleared. A few folks mentioned they’d tried the restaurants that came and went in this space before, and that this one felt different.
One neighbor wrote that the space felt “fresh and uniquely their own,” that the crispy Brussels sprouts were unreal and the atmosphere was exactly the kind of place to spend a summer evening. We read every one of those posts. They meant more than we can say here.
There’s a long way to go, and we’re building carefully. More days will follow as we grow. Reservations and online ordering are on the way. But the door is open now, and that part feels good.
Grand opening is Saturday, July 4 — Tega Cay’s birthday, which seemed right. U-Phonik will be on the stage and the backyard will be full. Until then, we’re here Thursday through Sunday. Walk-ins welcome. Dogs too.
Come find out what we’ve been building.
