Yes, Maisie’s Green Brae hosts private events. Birthday parties, corporate gatherings, rehearsal dinners, neighborhood celebrations, team offsites. The venue has indoor and outdoor space, a full kitchen, and a full bar. Inquiries go to maisie@mgb-llc.co.
When Christine and Karl Schaefer opened Maisie’s Green Brae, one of the things they wanted to get right was private events — not the hotel-ballroom version, and not the “we can do events” lip service that ends with a folding table shoved in a corner. A real gathering space, with a kitchen that can feed a crowd and enough outdoor room to let people actually spread out.
Here’s a plain account of what the venue offers and how the process works.
The Space
The building is a restored 1977 structure at 2150 Gold Hill Road, on a hillside property in Tega Cay, SC. The footprint is about 5,500 square feet indoors. The outdoor space is considerably larger — a covered front porch, an upper patio with raised planters, an open lawn, and a fenced area that works well for larger gatherings and for guests bringing dogs.
For private events, we can configure the space a few ways depending on the size and nature of the gathering: full indoor buyout, indoor/outdoor combination, or outdoor-only (weather permitting). We’ll talk through what makes sense for your group when you reach out.
At a Glance
- Indoor capacity: up to about 120 for a seated dinner; more for standing/reception style
- Outdoor capacity: flexible — the lawn expands what’s possible significantly
- Full kitchen on-site; no outside caterers needed (and we’d rather you didn’t)
- Full bar: draft beer, craft cocktails, wine, mocktails
- Live music available through our existing relationships with local artists
- AV basics (mic, PA) available for presentations or toasts
- Dogs welcome in outdoor event space
What Events Work Well Here
The brae is a good fit for gatherings where the atmosphere matters as much as the logistics — where you want people to feel like they’re at a real place, not a rental. Some events that translate well:
- Birthday dinners and milestone celebrations (40s, 50s, retirements)
- Rehearsal dinners and post-wedding Sunday brunches
- Corporate team outings, offsites, and end-of-quarter gatherings
- Neighborhood association events and HOA celebrations
- School and youth sports team celebrations (Friday afternoons work particularly well)
- Nonprofit fundraisers and community events
We’re not a banquet hall. We don’t do events that require the whole place to feel like a production. If you’re looking for chandeliers and a plated four-course menu with white-glove service, this isn’t the right fit and we’d tell you so. If you want people to eat well, drink well, and feel like themselves in a comfortable place — that’s what we do.
Food and Drink
The smoker does a lot of the work — brisket, chicken, ribs, smoked sausage — alongside the rest of the menu and seasonal sides. For private events we build a menu around what your group needs — family-style platters are the most common format, but we can also do stations or plated service depending on the size and formality of the evening.
Dietary accommodations are handled as a matter of course. Allergies, dietary needs, anything the kitchen should know — tell us when you reach out. Most plates here can be made vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free. When something can’t, we’ll say so plainly.
The bar comes with the space. We don’t do dry events or outside alcohol. Bar packages (open bar, beer and wine, soft bar) are available and we’ll walk through options when we talk.
How to Inquire
Email is the fastest path. Send a note to maisie@mgb-llc.co with your event type, approximate date, and headcount. We’ll come back to you within a day or two with availability and a rough picture of what the evening could look like.
A few things that help us give you a useful first response: whether you want indoor, outdoor, or both; whether it’s a sit-down dinner or more of a cocktail-party format; and whether live music is something you’d want. None of that is binding, just helpful context.
Lead time: a few weeks is workable for most private events. Weekend evenings in July and around holidays book faster. Reach out earlier than you think you need to.
