The Charities We’re Supporting in 2026
Where our time, our tables, and our till are going.
A Few Months In
A restaurant serves a lot of people and organizations — the people who eat and drink there, the people who work there, and the businesses and organizations across town.
We’ve spent the last few months figuring out what that means in practice, and part of the answer has been showing up for the causes our neighbors are already carrying. Here’s where our time, our tables, and our till are going in 2026.
Where We’re Showing Up
ChooseKindACD Foundation
Christine and Karl Schaefer are close friends with the Dickeys. Ashton, the young woman this foundation honors, was Phoebe and Will’s babysitter back when we first moved to Tega Cay. We show up for ChooseKindACD’s fundraisers and outreach work because Ashton’s story is part of our own history here, and because the foundation’s message on kindness and safe choices behind the wheel is one worth carrying.
Humane Society of York County
Maisie and Boomer both came home with us from HSYC — this one isn’t abstract. We support the shelter with money and supply donations, and we’re setting up a permanent drop-off at the restaurant so guests can leave donations for what the shelter actually needs, not just what’s easy to give.
York County Reads
Christine is helping plan York County Reads’ first-ever Read-a-Thon fundraiser, which will be held right here at Maisie’s Green Brae. A literacy nonprofit doesn’t often get a stage — we’re glad to build them one.
Fort Mill High School Band
We volunteer, we donate financially (both personally and as Maisie’s), and we collect aluminum cans at the bar for the band’s Scrap for Gold program. We’re also working with the band on a run of fundraisers at Maisie’s across the 2025–2026 school year.
Tega Cay Elementary School PTO
We’re hosting a Poker Run to help fund classroom supplies for teachers, we’re a sponsor of the PTO directly, and every teacher who eats at Maisie’s gets 10% off — every visit, not just for the fundraiser.
Tega Cay PD Camp Cadet
We catered one of Camp Cadet’s lunches this summer and hosted a fundraiser to help keep the program funded. It’s a small camp with a real cap on how many kids it can take — every bit of support stretches further than it looks.
Tega Cay Lions Club
Christine and Karl are both active members. Karl is an officer in the club this year. Christine runs the club’s Vision Screening program in local schools, which ties directly into the national KidSight effort below. We’re also working with the Lions on community events and fundraisers to host at Maisie’s.
Lions KidSight USA
This is the national program behind the vision screenings Christine runs locally through the Tega Cay Lions — catching kids’ eye problems early, before they become the kind of thing that’s harder to fix. Supporting it locally means supporting it at the source.

This list will grow as the year goes on. If your organization is doing good work in Tega Cay and Fort Mill, we’d like to hear from you. While we can’t financially support every charity, we will do our best to support you however we might.
