Good to Know

What kind of food does Maisie’s Green Brae serve?

Honest comfort food with Southern, Scottish, and other influences, built to share across a table. The menu runs bites and shareables, salads, handhelds, mains, sides, and desserts — plus a From the Smoker section with brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and rotating features. There’s plenty that never touches the smoker, so every seat at the table is covered.

Are the smoked dishes made in house?

Yes. Everything in the From the Smoker section is smoked right here, low and slow, the way it’s meant to be done.

Do you have daily specials or rotating items?

Yes. The smoker features rotate — weekday specials and a Saturday offering (currently The Trio: smoked sausage, pork ribs, and pork shoulder with a trio of house sauces). Follow @maisiesgreenbrae for what’s on this week.

Do you ever run out of brisket or other smoked meats?

It happens. Smoked meat takes most of a day, so when a cut is gone for the night, it’s gone. We’d rather run out than rush it or hold it past its best. Come a little earlier on a busy night if there’s something you have your heart set on.

Is there anything for someone who doesn’t want barbecue?

Plenty. The menu is built for the whole table, not just the pit fans. There are handhelds, starters, salads, and mains that have nothing to do with the smoker.

Is there a kids menu?

Yes — the Wee Bairns section. “Wee Bairns” is the Scottish phrase for little ones. Approachable plates for kids who want something simpler, sized for smaller appetites and priced accordingly. Ask your server for the current options.

Can the kitchen accommodate food allergies and dietary needs?

Allergies, dietary needs, anything the kitchen should know — tell your server. Most plates here can be made vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free. When something can’t, we’ll say so plainly. We’ve also marked the nine major allergens beside each item on the menu.

Do you have gluten-free options?

Most plates can be made gluten-free, and your server can walk you through what’s naturally safe and what can be adjusted. When something can’t be made gluten-free, we’ll say so plainly.

Do you have vegetarian or vegan options?

Yes. Most plates can be made vegetarian or vegan. Tell your server what you’re after and we’ll point you to what works.

Can I order by the pound or get carryout?

Yes. Smoked features are available by the half or full pound, and sides come by the pint or quart. See the By the Pound section of the menu, then order at the bar or online for takeout or delivery — we’ll package everything up to take home.

Do you offer takeout, delivery, or online ordering?

Yes. You can order online for takeout or delivery through our Order Online page, or come up to the bar and we’ll get your order in for dine-in or carryout.

Do you take reservations, or is it walk-in?

We’re walk-in for regular dining and don’t hold tables. On a busy Friday or Saturday, call or text 803.81.HOUND (46863) to check the wait, then settle in with a drink at the bar or in one of our lounges until your table’s ready. Planning a larger party or private gathering? Email maisie@mgb-llc.co or see our private events page.

Is there outdoor seating?

Yes — a large covered porch, an upper patio, and an open lawn. Much of the experience at Maisie’s Green Brae lives outside.

Are dogs welcome?

Yes. Well-behaved dogs are welcome throughout the outdoor space on-leash, and off-leash in the fenced dog yard with their owners. Dogs are not permitted in the indoor dining room, which is standard. The brae has plenty of room for a dog who needs to stretch.

How far is Maisie’s Green Brae from the Tega Cay golf course?

About five minutes. We’re an easy drive from Tega Cay Golf Club — close enough to be the obvious answer to “where do we eat now?” after a round. Bring the foursome; the patio has room, and nobody minds golf clothes.

How far are you from Lake Wylie and the marina?

Just a few minutes. Tega Cay sits on the Lake Wylie peninsula, and we’re a short drive from the water and the marina. We’re not on the lake — we’re where you head after a day on it. Boat hair welcome, lake-tired dogs welcome.

Is Maisie’s Green Brae the restaurant that used to be here — the old Tega Cay Tavern?

No. Maisie’s Green Brae is a new restaurant from Christine and Karl Schaefer. The building at 2150 Gold Hill Road has been part of Tega Cay since 1977 and has held a few places over the years. This one is ours, start to finish.
